Primary-source first

For current Victorian public holiday dates we prefer official Victorian Government sources, especially Business Victoria. Regional declarations are checked against the Business Victoria non-metropolitan public holiday list and relevant council information where necessary.

How we label dates

Dates from a published Business Victoria calendar are described as official. Where an official future calendar is not yet available, dates may be calculated from established current rules and are clearly marked as calculated or to be confirmed.

We do not guess schedule-dependent dates

The Friday before the AFL Grand Final depends on the AFL schedule. If Business Victoria has not published the exact date, we show it as subject to schedule or to be confirmed rather than guessing.

Regional declarations

Regional public holidays can apply to only part of a council area. We preserve the scope of the official declaration and avoid converting a district, locality or postcode declaration into a municipality-wide claim.

Corrections and updates

When an official source changes, we aim to update the affected page and its structured data. Readers can report discrepancies through the Contact page.
